Marigold Catering Company is a luxury niche caterer specializing in experience-based events. We really want to elevate the expected by providing very approachable food for all palates but in a fun, beautiful, experience-driven way. LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A new restaurant has opened offering seasonal comfort food and Southern hospitality. LOUISVILLE, Ky. — "The House of Marigold" is a locally-owned, woman-owned, and Black-owned restaurant located in Middletown with a unique catering service. The cocktail menu boasts a dozen options, including traditional brunch offerings like mimosas, as well as other drinks — like the tequila-based Shady Pines, which is the Marigold’s take on a margarita with pineapple syrup.

We live and work primarily in Louisville’s eastern side, and it’s great having a mix of shops, including more and more local boutiques alongside the bigger names. Through the summer months, we are going to be hosting pop-up dinners, which we’re super excited about. We’re also going to be doing some partner dinners with bourbon distilleries and wineries. The Coles started their successful Marigold Catering Company in 2019 and added Golden Girls-inspired Marigold Mobile Bars, a selection of bar carts available for event rentals. The House of Marigold is available for private event rentals in the evening with customizable catering packages. The restaurant has a full coffee bar with signature lattes plus a full cocktail bar.

So, we started the mobile bar sector of our company, Marigold Mobile Bar, and purchased a few luxury mobile vehicles, including a 1967 Airstream Overlander. The most familiar types of marigolds may be the standard yellow or orange ones in four-packs at the garden center. But marigolds come in a wide variety of gorgeous sizes, shapes, and colors and have many uses. Some are large enough to hide a trash can, while others barely reach ankle high. Sadly, we had to lay off all of our employees and figure out how we were going to pivot and continue to stay afloat as a company. Kris was doing a lot of private dinners, and he was doing a really amazing job of elevating the dining side of at-home pandemic-style dining while I was trying to figure out how to elevate the bar side.

Husband and wife duo Kris and Adrienne Cole are building on their catering business with the restaurant that will offer seasonal comfort food for breakfast and lunch. The co-owners, the husband and wife team of Chef Kristopher and host Adrienne Cole, parlayed a history in the local eats business and a successful catering company with popular mobile bar carts into powerful word-of-mouth publicity. House of Marigold is the first brick-and-mortar concept from local restaurateurs Adrienne and Kris Cole. The husband-wife duo share many years of experience in Louisville’s restaurant scene—Kris working in kitchens, Adrienne in front-of-house positions.
Mexican marigold (Tagetes lemmonii) is a perennial shrub native to Mexico and the U.S. Dainty yellow flowers and a modest 3-4 foot height make an attractive and fragrant deer-resistant display. Their menu is ever-changing with a variety of seasonal foods to choose from. From the moment we walked toward the entrance, it was clear that we were stepping into a place that’s stacked with Instagram-worthy photo ops. The front windows are covered with huge decal outlines of — what else — marigolds.

When not parenting a Bernese mountain pup named Ava, you’ll find her running or working on her lamination technique.
